Hey bud, get woke and go broke
When are American companies going to wake up and realize that their obligation is to their shareholders, and there is no shame in that? Stay out of politics and don't drive loyal customers away to look cool to the social media woke mob! Bud Light Loses Billions in Value as Backlash from Trans Partnership Continues As the controversy surrounding Bud Light’s partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney heats up, the brand’s parent company has suffered a concurrent loss of more than $5 billion in market value. Yes, that’s a billion with a “B.” The backlash against Anheuser-Busch began on April 1 when Mulvaney, a transgender social media “influencer,” posted a video letting fans know that Bud Light had sent him a can of beer with his face on it and that he was partnering with the brand for an ad campaign. “Since March 31, shares of Bud Light’s parent company have fallen by nearly 4% — knocking down the company’s market capitalization from $132.38 billion to $127.13 billion,” the New York Post reported on Wednesday. This was a big turnaround for the company, as Anheuser-Busch had enjoyed a six-month stock market rise that culminated in a value of $134 billion on March 31, according to Newsweek. It also didn’t help that Anheuser-Busch exec Alissa Heinerscheid hinted that the brand needed to move beyond its current customer base and begin appealing to a more woke clientele. It might be too early to pinpoint the Mulvaney partnership as the cause of Bud’s sudden decline in market value, but many think there is an obvious correlation between the two.

Meh, so the purveyors of low class American brew are having a bad day. I’ve never been a drinker of such proletarian swill. If it was to suddenly vanish from the shelf at the store, I wouldn’t notice.

Re: Hey bud, get woke and go broke
I'm with you on the drinkability. I'm a hophead, myself and prefer a good IPA. Bud Light is ok to pour into my toilet to add some yeast to my septic tank. That said, and according to Vinepair.com, it “controls 13.24 percent of the market share alone,” and “has become its own pop culture icon, associated with leisurely drinking without the feeling of being weighed down. Since March 31, shares of Bud Light’s parent company have fallen by nearly 4% — knocking down the company’s market capitalization from $132.38 billion to $127.13 billion on Wednesday. Anheuser-Busch stock fizzled more than 1.5% on Wednesday. Today, reports say the company has lost more than $6 billion, with the losses continuing to add up. “I think society flexes its muscles sometimes and reminds manufacturers that the consumer is still in charge,” Jeff Fitter, owner of Case & Bucks, a restaurant and sports bar in Barnhart, Missouri, told FOX Business. “In Bud Light’s effort to be inclusive, they excluded almost everybody else, including their traditional audience.” While Budweiser & Nike have continued to stand with Mulvaney, one thing is clear- this is not going away anytime soon.

Re: Hey bud, get woke and go broke
6 billion sounds like a lot of money, until you consider that it is part of 130 billion. Money ain’t worth much anymore.

It's apparently a lot of money to AB
By Mark A. Kellner - The Washington Times - Updated: 5:03 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 After a week-long $6.6 billion loss in share value, executives at AB InBev, the parent company of Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light brand, have decided to shelve its “partnership” with Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender “influencer” whose appearance on a can triggered a nationwide backlash. Brendan Whitworth, Anheuser-Busch CEO, issued a statement that effectively repudiated the Mulvaney deal, although it did not reference the personality by name. “I am responsible for ensuring every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew,” Mr. Whitworth wrote. “We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.” News of the walkback surfaced Thursday when Rogan O’Handley, who publishes an online newsletter called “DC Draino,” tweeted that marketing for Bud Light had been “put on hold.” A week earlier, Mr. O’Handley asserted sources within the firm told him corporate executives were “angry” at the release of the Bud Light can with the influencer’s image. He wrote, “It wasn’t posted on any [Anheuser-Busch/Bud Light] social medias [sic] & the leading theory is that a Leftist manager secretly did it on their own to push trans agenda. New PR statement expected. Possible lawsuit…”

Reverse course? Maybe in another 6 months. No announcement will be given for that move.
