Father's Day present
Bought myself a cart for my mig welder. Had one that I made from a two wheeled hand cart, it worked but that's about all I could say for it. This one is pretty nice and handy. Harbor Freight had them on sale over the weekend for $30.

Re: Father's Day present
I did the same thing Dan, but modified mine somewhat by adding a wider and taller stance using some 3/8" x 3" plate, taller & wider rear rubber tires and larger heavy duty front swivel casters. Now the cart is much more stable and has no tipping tendency.

Re: Father's Day present
I thought about that but if I make it much wider it won't fit in it's parking space. :-)

Re: Father's Day present
Has anyone tried the Harbor Freight cheapo wire welder?? Does it work or is it just a waste of $$...???

Re: Father's Day present
Steve, if you want a machine that will give you great service and one that will be long lasting, spend the extra bucks and buy only Miller, Hobart or Lincoln products, and like Dan recommends, buy a MIG welder. I personally prefer Miller as I've had one (a Millermatic 35) for thirty years or more and it operates today as good as it did when I bought it. That said however, both Hobart and Lincoln are trusted and long experienced manufacturers of welding equipment.

Re: Father's Day present
i'm hearing that Hobart and Lincoln are not as good as they once were. I don't own either brand so may be just unfounded rumor.

Re: Father's Day present
Friend of mine had one of their flux core welders. It worked that's about all we could say for it. If you are thinking about getting one I would recommend the extra dollars for the mig welder. Mig is a better weld and that machine has more amps so might work better.
