I have a cheap one from HarborFreight that I've used for cleaning all sorts of dirty stuff. Put a distributor in it with a cup of "Pine-Sol" to get the dirt and oil off it. To my surprise it took the paint off too. I'll after to remember that next time I have to work on one.

I've been using one for years to clean everything including eyeglasses, jewelry, carbs, gun parts, locks, tractor parts, etc, etc.

Time in the cleaner varies on what is being cleaned, as well as the solvent.

Depending on what I'm trying to accomplish, I may use cold water, hot water, dish detergent, lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, kerosene, mineral spirits, etc.
