  • Gasket Cutter
  • This turned into a winter project several years ago when I became disenchanted with the N's "over the counter" oil drain plug gasket. Made from scrap parts, it's a hand held little tool that requires swearing when used.

The gasket material is 1/16", tough, with a slick surface and made for a twisting, compressing application like that drain plug.

  • I'm thinking that if the shaft you used was extended by about 6" (opposite from the center point end), it could be secured in a 1/2" chuck on a drill press and then run at the slowest RPM speed available on the press, making it much easier to use.

  • I appreciate the input Larry, but I don't think I've got enough Band Aids around here for an upgrade like that.

  • Patrick, What did you use for a blade?
Gasket punches are good to have also for cutting
    bolt holes in gaskets.

  • I sharpened the edge of old sockets and use them for gasket punches.

  • I envy people like you that have the skills to fabricate tools like this.

  • Thanks for the interest fellas, sorry about the quality of the picture, camera bat. is going dead. This thing is pretty much self explanatory, the hole in the back is only there to hold the slider together for welding. The cutter is an altered utility Knife blade. You want to make it, have at it
