  • Dinning room workbench?
  • Thinking about putting one of these in the corner of my dinning room so I don't have to work on the good table. Anybody see a down side to that idea? click on the link for a description of the work bench.

  • Dan, I bought one while they were on sale about a year ago. It went together quite well, but the drawer slides were a complete joke. I went to Lowe's and bought professional grade heavier drawer slides and trashed the cheap Chinese slides. All in all, the oak bench is sturdy and is made of good quality wood. The wood vise is also good, or at least it has been so far.

  • Reminds me of the Yugo m48 rifles that are supposed to be stocked in teak wood.Mine is stocked in Elm.Beech is favored for work benches in Europe.China wood is a mystery.Poplar is a hardwood.Ill have a look at the bench next Wed.

  • Sorry 'bout that 36'er as yep, it could be walnut, maple, or some other hardwood, but it looks like, feels like, and smells like OAK to me - at least this one does!

  • I probably will not bother with the drawers then. Good to know that it is solid though, thanks.

  • My girl friend was nice enough to remind me that I just retired and won't have any income until March. Guess my purse strings just got tightened up a bit. Hate to admit she's right, I'll have to wait until spring to get one.
