  • Ford tire inflator that runs off cylinder compression
  • Years ago I bought what I thought was a cool device for inflating tires when stranded out in a field. It was produced by Ford and accommodates four spark plug sizes. It screws into a spark plug hole, has an in line gauge and has a cloth wrapped rubber hose that attaches to your valve stem. Has anyone else seen one of these or know where I can look something up on them? I have typed in various words for search engines including engine-aire and only come up with one source from 2003 that is very limited. Thank you in advance for any information and value of such a device.

  • I've heard of these things, I always wondered if it can't be dangerous filling a tire with a gas/air mixture.

  • I did not think that they filled the tire with the fuel mix air. I thought that they had a diaphram that pumped the air seperate.

  • I've seen them advertised on e-Bay a number of times, but they're the inflators made for JD's using the same principle from what I understand. Check out e-Bay under "used John Deere parts"; (I've never seen one for a Ford or other brands, but old hands tell me they will work on just about any brand).

  • Ive had one for 60 years.Used it a lot util I rigged up a compressor from a old refridgerator,A fellow told me that he knew a fellow who bought one to use with a Brush automobile.Didnt work because the Brush had a one cylinder engine. It also had a wooden front axle.
