  • A test for gasoline
  • Is there a test kit you can buy for gasoline to test for octane and ethanol ?, We have several snowmobiles and 8n tractors, some of the sleds take non ethanol gas and one that does not and the same for my 8n's, winter time non and summertime 10%
The problem is I have 6 - 5 gal. race jugs I use for fuel and I keep ending up with a half a jug here and a 1/4 jug there........ and I can't remember what's what. Yes I know I should label the jugs but I don't and sometimes I'll buy all non or all 10% so labeling is a moot point. I know your not suppose to mix large amounts of non ethanol and 10% ethanol gasoline especially if your about to put it in storage for the season.

    Thanks
    later,dave

  • Gas for lawnmowers gets stale if left for 6 months. This was before ethanol was put in the gas.My father in law would drain the gas in mowers that wouldnt start in May.Some fresh gas would start engines with stale gas.He put the stale gas in his chevy pick up.If your gas smells like old paint brushes its stale. Then there is the problem of seasonal gas.Winter blends are more volatile to make for easy starting. In any case you should not store gas over winter. Its just dangerous.....
