  • Replacing Starter motor
  • Bought a 9N that had been converted to 12 Volts. Doubt that the starter motor had been changed. Worked well for a number of years, then failed. Removed starter motor only to find that the gear that moves the fly wheel was broken, and that several pieces had dropped down into the crank case. Is it necessary to take down the oil pan to recover them, especially if I am unable to recover the broken pieces or can I assume that these small pieces will remain in the bottom of the pan and not require further consideration.

  • Peter,

More people will see this if you post it in the Ntractor Forum. Just look for N Board in the red heading.

On that forum, scroll down about 8 posts and you will find similar question on a 8N. Not sure it's 100% accurate for a 9N.
