Who was it said something to the effect, most carb problems are spark. I would pull all 4 plugs and clean or install new. Check spark.
Then, lean the carb. Low lead/ethanol fuel will fowl plugs if too rich of a mixture. I set the carb initial book settings and then adjust. With warm enngine, throw to wide open throttle (WOT)and back to idle. If it does not stumble, turn power jet 1/8 turn IN. Test WOT again. If it does not stumble, turn the jet another 1/8 turn IN. Test WOT again. If you get a stumble, back the jet out the last 1/8 turn. Test WOT again. Tweak.
Furhter, never do short run times, like starting it cold, moving it 10 feet and shutting it off. A cold engine will fowl plugs quickly. Too many of those will fowl plugs.
That is my story and I'm sticking to it. HTH
