My procedure for compression test: Two tests, dry and then wet. Dry: Remove all plugs; move throttle to wide open. While holding compression gage tight in #1 spark plug hole, hit starter button and hold it for 5 compression strokes and record the reading after the 5 strokes. Do the same for cylinders 2, 3 and 4. Put the readings in a column on sheet of paper. Now do the wet test.
Wet test: Ad a couple squirts of engine oil to number 1 spark plug hole. Throttle lever at wide open. Hold gage and push and hold start button for 5 compression strokes. Record the reading of 5th stroke and record it on the paper next to #1 dry reading. Do the same for each cylinder.
