For painting an 8N, the rule of thumb has been all cast iron parts are Ford Vemillion (Red) M-2822 and all sheet metal parts are Ford Medium Grey, p/n M-13243 with a few exceptions. The exceptions are the rear Hat Rims, originally zinc or cad plated, but painted a metallic shade will suffice now, Try the CASE/IH Silver Argent Wheel Paint. It won't fade and get dull in 2 years or after years of use. Most other metallic shades will do that. raer venter discs were Medium Grey and front wheels too. Hardware was never painted like lug nuts. Steering wheel acorn nut and gas tank were cadmium silver-blue plated. Eastwood Products sells a close paint match to the cad. Starter motor, generator, radiator fan & shroud, wire loom, toolbox, air cleaner, air cleaner tube, dash, steering box, battery tray and cover, wheel hubs and studs, PTO cover, carb, manifold, running boards, sat bars, 11-hole drawbar, grille guard/bumper, wheel oil filler tube, and oil filter housing were Vermillion/red. Radiator was Ford Semi-Gloss Black Enamel as were the seat, seat spring, and tools. Steering wheel spokes were Bakelite coated, later plastic. I may have missed one or two items so just ask if I did. Be aware that not all brands sold as Ford Red are not close matches to the Vermillion. Most are too orangey for that. A real close match to the original Ford Vermillion is the TISCO IHC TP-110, and doesn't match the Farmall Red at all. The TISCO Medium Grey is close enough. CNH Iron-Gard used to be close too but they've changed suppliers now so don't know how it matches up. CNH lists the Medium Grey as used from 39 thru 61. That is wrong. The 9N/2N paint was Ford M-2888 Dark Grey used from 39 to 47. CNH does not make a 9N Dark Grey any longer. Semi-Gloss Black is not the same as Flat Black.
