The plug should have an extension that goes through the reverse idler shaft in the transmission to hold the shaft in place. Take you a small screwdriver, pin, wire etc. about four inches long to realign the hole in the shaft and support. Be gentle try not to move the idler shaft forward or backward or rotate very much.
