Magneto meshing on angle drive

Good morning. I am ready to put the mag. on my 2n for the first time but am having a little problem meshing the mag. to the angle drive. I am on the top of the stroke on the number 1 cylinder. I had the mag. rebuilt and he put a piece of tape across the bottom of the mag where it meshes with the drive stating number 1. I did not spin the mag. at all. It does not line up. Am I missing something??? One thing I thought about is that I did pull the drive apart to clean and lube gears. Is it possible that I put it back together wrong??? One or two teeth off??? Sounds logical?? Thanks guys
