Ford with Bombardier Tracks...in Antarctica?

I saw this picture on the weather channel's website. They had a photo album about Antarctica. The caption for the photo read: "Sir Edmund Hillary drives a muskeg automobile sled at the shackleton base in Jan 1958"

Looks to me like an 8n with some bombardier tracks...but the lights are on the top of the hood?
