Jonas' comments regarding ROPS without seatbelts are not entirely correct. Although it is true that seatbelts are necessary to assure the nearly 100% protective factor of the ROPS system, it is inaccurate for people to think that the ROPS provides little or no protection in the absence of a seatbelt. The seatbelt should always be worn, yet it is the general opinion of most safety experts that there is a reasonable chance for prevention of serious injury by the presence of the ROPS alone. There are copious amounts of research data which have been published on the topic of tractor overturns. Anyone interested in learning the facts regarding ROPS and overturn prevention can google National Tractor Safety Initiative (NIOSH). I would also mention that unilaterally, agricultural researchers agree that installing ROPS on all unprotected tractors is an absolute priority for farm fatality and injury prevention.
