  • Dearborn Lift-E 6 ft disc
  • Like many people, I'm sure, I am looking for good salvage parts for my E series tandem disc harrow:

    I need a spool - part # 111777
    a ribbed spool - 111778
    four 16" smooth discs - 111781
and an upper and lower bearing cap - 111779 & 111780

Plus a couple of nuts to go on the 1" round axles.Does anyone know what size nut I need to buy for the axles? Two of the old square nuts cracked and they seem to have a fine thread - when I look for 1" nuts in the hardware stores and farm supply stores, they all seem to have a course thread.

Appreciate any guidance anyone can offer. Thanks!

  • Never mind - I found the spool at AgriSupply and I have a salvage yard a few miles from my house that has every Dearborn disc part I will ever need.

  • You are fortunate, Andy.

There are not many agriculture salvage yards around and few of us have one nearby.

The closest one to me is around 70 miles away and the roads are two lane with lots of curves and hills. I do not visit very often.

  • Yes, very fortunate, indeed, praise God. The yard is only 7 or 8 miles from my house, but the old man who owns it is 94 years old! I do not know how much longer he can keep going. He has been collecting farm equipment since the 50’s maybe even the 40’s. I am planning to buy up all his disc parts that I can find.

  • Andy,

Would there be any chance he would have a complete gear box for a Woods XT184 rotary mower?

  • I have no idea - he has acres and acres of stuff - here is his name and number:

    Richard Erb
    Erb Antique Tractors and Machinery
    Marshfield, MO
    Phone: 417-859-2586

He doesn't get around very well, but his mind is really sharp and he generally knows what he has and does have. Try giving him a call.

  • PS - I tried Messicks.com and this is the response I got back:
"Parts 111778 and 111781 are both no longer available. They have no substitutions and I was unable to find them from any of our obsolete part sources. I have canceled your order and your card will not be charged."

  • Where are you located?
Do your disc pans/wheels have the 7/8" square axle hole?
I have several used ones with that size hole that I'd give away to someone who could use them. They're up at my property in central Minnesota but I could bring the home to the Twin Cities if that would help.

  • Thanks for the reply - I am down in Missouri. Mine have the 1 inch round axle holes, because this disc has the old-style round axle - they are not square, but I appreciate the offer.
