  • Not that I need another project cause I already have enough to last a lifetime. If it was closer then I might scoop it up. For $1300 I don't think you can go wrong.

  • It's a bit west of me and was listed last year for awhile. Guess I'm like some of the other guys with to many projects and not enough time. A local guy did the conversion on a 8N of his. I think he said $1300 for the kit to convert. He also had a radiator made to solve overheating issue. I could check it out if someone wanted more info.

  • Nice. I wonder if that is one of the kit conversion. Or homemade. Either way it is cool and the price is fair.

  • I spent almost all of my tractor budget on a Boomer 8N with loader, front hydraulics, and wheel weights. I would love a V8 2N, but I have nothing I would give up to make room.... My 871 is a sacred cow, as is my 3000 diesel 8 speed, and that Boomer is going nowhere. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope it goes to a good home. My want list is much longer than my 'I can properly care for' list. I would like to see a person here get it.

  • Oh,I live in Minnesota... My 871 Came from Oklahoma, My Jubilee (which died in a garage fire) came from Kentucky, The Boomer came from Illinois, the 3000 came from Wisconsin. It does not hurt to drive a bit for what you want. The fire that took the Jub hurt a bunch.

  • Can anyone tell me anything about the conversion kit in this one?

  • That does not look like any of the kits that were once available. I suspect it is another one-off conversion. The hardest part to make may be the engine to transmission adapter. After that, getting the hood/dash to look right would be the next hardest thing to tackle. My V8 project is coming together and will be running some time this summer. It has a very conservative 60hp rebuilt '49 flathead and a Howard creeper transmission. The intent is to make noise without going too fast. Of course the Howard or rear end would probably explode if I ever tried to do a hole shot with any traction. Finding one mostly done and fixing what I felt was not right would have been a lot easier than starting from scratch, but probably not cheaper.

  • i was looking at the ad on CL, is that the gas tank mounted behind the seat? I see your tank mounted in the correct place. does this look like something to stay away from or would you say its salvageable.

  • For the money it looks like a project that has most of the hard fab work done. Personally, the hood looks like something I would have to redo. I managed to fit my fuel tank under the hood by using a smaller 5 gallon generator tank, and moving it back over the battery. I felt that was much better than running exposed fuel line to the back of the tractor. My biggest concern with that Craig's List machine is engine condition. It could turn out to be a diamond in the rough or a money pit, flip a coin.

  • Ditto with me too, Kirk; I've too many irons in the fire as it is now. Plus I see this as a complete restoration since it appears to have been setting in the weeds for a while. I'd rather save my $$$ for a wartime 2N or better yet, a Moto Tug. Interesting find though.
