  • New tractor
  • what do you think?
It's a late 1950 8n, Super nice tractor, Good sheet medal and wheels and tires, It has a Sherman transmission in it but I'm having trouble figuring out which one, you can see the handle in the pic, I haven't started it yet or driven it, will do that before I pay for it, Been sitting in a barn for 5-6 years.
    More pics to com

  • Can't tell but is it a later '50 with the Proofmeter? I see a late steering box. I am working on getting the SHERMAN MPC scanned and sent to Tyler to re-post now that my pictures are gone thanks to PhotoPhucket. The MONROE E-Z Rides are OK but limited to weight of operator. The R-O-Rides are more robust. Yep, nice find, better grab it fast...

  • Yep, late 1950

This is funny, My first 8n (I still have it) is a early 1950 8n, front mount dist, I had a Mid 1950 8n ,had front mount dist with no proof meter and missing other things as well, And now I have a late 1950 8n with all the later bells and whistles !

If you look on John Smiths site he talks about the "Three" different 1950 8n's

  • Nice, That is the Sherman combination shift lever, the best one to have. With shift lever close to tractor, you have high range, neutral, and low range gears. Shift to neutral, wiggle lever out to the left. The shift lever will move out about 3/4". From there you can shift into standard gears.

  • The seat is a Rest-O-Ride seat made for the 8N.
In the picture the seat on the left is for a 9N or 2N and the one on the right is for the 8N.

  • Correction
  • That should have been EZ Ride Seat not Rest-O-Ride.

  • Very Nice. Shifter looks like the hi and low Sherman that is on my Jubilee. Looks like it has the james bond ejector seat too ;)..

  • Looks good. Has the better steering box. It's likely it's a sherman combo. Here is a link to explain the different style handles and how to shift them.

  • Like that comfy seat setup which is near identical to the Farmall H & M (and maybe more) series row crops!
