  • Marvel-Schebler TSX 241A Carburetor
  • Information please: My 1950 8N carb has a small tapped hole in the casting just forward of the drain. In the manual's exploded view it is shown as: Ref. No. 7, Drill plug, nozzle hole (No. 8-32), Marvel-Schebler Part Number 15-409. What is the purpose/function of this little thig-a-ma-jig? Thanks for any info.

  • Thanks guys. Where can a guy get one of those "ambi-helical" tools? What will they think of next? Seriously, I wondered about the need for the hole right next to the drain plug. Also, in the literature on TSX series carbs, they don't all have 'em and one would think that the drain plug would be located to serve the same purpose. Perhaps that was a later fix.

  • I remove them when cleaning the carb.

  • "Drill plug" says what it is. During manufacturing, they needed access to drill a hole for the main jet/nozzle assy and after the operation was performed, they needed to plug the hole.

  • I think they used one of those ambi-helical thread cutting tools that can drill and tap on a 90 angle... ; > )
