  • My friend is the photographer for our local high school. Pretty much every sport. Friday night he uploaded 300 pictures onto the High School Sports page. He has one set up on Facebook. Does this club have a facebook page? Would be easy to upload picture on there.

  • We do have a Facebook page
  • It's set up more to be a bug light to send folks here, but perhaps we should change it over, add a Files section and let it operate side-by-side with the website here?

  • I must have found it at some point. Apparently I'm one of the 1500+ people who clicked the "like" button on facebook. I have a facebook page, but don't spend more than 10 minutes every couple of weeks looking at anything on facebook. It mostly seems like a huge waste of time to me. Guess I'm just too old to understand it.

  • Then even if old eyes can solve the captcha, non members will not be able to see anything, even if the page is made public, because it will be covered in a "sign up or log in" screen.

  • HiYa Larry-
No, the NTC does not have a Facebook page, but maybe we should one. Seems we asked this before back when the CHAT room was deleted. Start a new thread and poll the members to see if there is much interest. I can upload pictures all day on Facebook pages that are NOT stored at any photo hosting site from my own library/PC desktop if I want. The question is how long does Facebook store information, and once they get wind of people linking photos, will they then start charging a fee too??? Probably. Here's a photo/LINK to a current post on one of the Facebook Ford Tractor pages...

  • There are many ways to share photos. Some are free and some will cost you a small monthly charge. Price is largely dependent on how much data and bandwidth you need. I currently pay $10.99 a month for a full blown personal website with unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, 100 email addresses, 50 FTP users, and multiple SQLserver databases. When Photobucket started charging I began using my website for all my image hosting. I am in control of all content and file organization and there are NO advertisements. Linking is trivial:

  • Ntractor Club is the only reason to have PB. Not sure what else it is used for.

  • Unless they have just announced a new deal, AOL and PB have been in "cahoots" for at least 10 years. I'm currently in the tedious process of moving all my photos out of my paid PB account. I've had a paid account for many years, but all that appears to have bought me was some warning before I have to move everything or start paying 10 times as much for their hosting service.

  • Kevin-
Have you tried to download your album lately? You can use their menu function to do it all at once, will send it to you in a compressed Zip File, but it has been FUBAR for several weeks now. They keep saying they are aware of the problem and are working on it but I suspect they are just putting up another barrier for people to take their photos and business and run elsewhere. You can download your pictures but you have to do them on at a time. When they instigated their new rules back in June, no more 3rd party sharing unless you buy into their $400 per year account, an influx of members began downloading their albums and I suspect that's when they put up the barrier. Too strange to have been FUBAR now for so long and still not fixed. Must have a team of gerbils working on it....

  • Re: photobukcet
  • The way they suddenly stopped allowing 3rd party hosting for free accounts was bad. I understand why they did it, but their method was completely rotten. Then I discovered they are also doing ugly things to their paying customers. My Pro account used to mean they didn't fill my screen with pop-up ads. Not any more. Suddenly every page on photobucket was showing ads and full screen overlays. This is a clear violation of my paid contract that was supposed to go thru May 2018. Now they say my Pro account will basically revert back to a free account in December 2017, no more 3rd party hosting unless I upgrade to a Plus account that will cost 10 times as much.

  • Re: photobukcet
  • Yep, they sure didn't think this one thru, but then the place is run by a bunch of drugged up gerbils. The whole premise of a photo hosting web site was to provide it for use like we have been -on 3rd party sites like ours. Other than photo sharing, why else would one need a place to store their photos when they can store them on their own PC's for free? Thus their lower end 'free' plans, which do not allow 3rd party image sharing, are stupid. The pictures are ours, not theirs, unless I missed something in the initial contract which gave them exclusive rights to own them. I say we all file a class action suit against them. I need to get my album downloaded first, but doing them one at a time is time spent I do not have for right now. Download, then delete the entire album, so they won't be able to use them in the future. There has to be a better way to do this and keep it free to make millions of us happy. IMGUR isn't the answer either as they can and will follow suit eventually. They are probably waiting to see how PhotoPhucket makes out.

  • I am not at all sure that they didnt place a "time bomb" in the downloaded zip files, because on June 30, I spent hours downloading 24 zip files and viewed few of then to verify the contents. But yesterday after very thourough search, those zip files are neither on my computer or my backup drive!!!

  • I downloaded a number of zip files back in June also. Just did a search for them and I still have them, no problem for me.

  • Re: photobukcet
  • Thankfully, I didn't need to download most of my PB libraries. Guess I'm too old to feel comfortable keeping everything in cloud storage. Most of my photos are on a thumb drive, a hard drive, and backed-up to DVD. My PB account is in the process of being closed. I've asked for a partial refund of the fee they collected. I believe their change in policy was a breach of contract for paid Pro accounts, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out they had something in the fine print to cover this. I know their official policy is that fees are non-refundable. That should not apply when they choose to alter the agreement mid-year. If a class-action ever gets going I plan to be on it, not that I ever expect to get any money back.

  • Yea, I suspect the same. Once they seen how many people were taking there photos and leaving they said we're not going to make it easy for them.
Luckily I downloaded them right away.
