  • 861-d draft control rebuild
  • Hello there! I recently acquired a 1958 861-d. The entire third link assembly that connects to the draft control was busted off, so I ordered a seal kit for the cover and cylinder and the parts that were missing. Opened the cover up and was trying to use the rebuild/ setup instructions I found on this site for an NAA. The parts look very similar. I have two questions. The front left threaded hole on the cylinder housing for attachment to the cover had been busted off in the past and was "repaired". Do you think it's worth getting a new cylinder to replace this one. Everything else looks and feels ok. Seals are good, etc. Also, will using the setup guide for the NAA give me good results with this setup also? Thanks!

I'll try to post some pictures later on.

  • Dean is most likely correct on the need to get a new cylinder. I might mention for the adjustments, that there is a video on overhauling the hydraulics on tractors like yours. I have a copy but can not find it right now. It was in depth on the rebuild. I believe it covers the linkage adjustments but don't remember for certain. It is titled Hydraulic repair for ford tractors I think. on Amazon.

  • Replace the cylinder.

Doo not try to use NAA adjustment procedures.

  • Hard to say on the cylinder housing. What does the repair look like? Will it still tighten down properly?
