  • 1953 Jubilee value with bad pinion
  • Looking for advise on a 1953 Jubilee I'm looking at.
Has fairly new rear tires, seller says it runs well and hydraulics work well.
Front tires are worn and sheet metal is average.
Seller says it won't move, local tractor dealer diagnosed it as bad pinion gear.
Seller wants $1500, which I feel is way to high, others in full working condition selling in my area for $2000-2500 in similar condition.
I told him I would be interested at half his listing price, $750
Did I make a reasonable offer?

I have a 9n currently but would like the Jubilee for brush hogging since it has more power, the 4 speed transmission and live hydraulics. Am I correct that the Jubilee is a better brush hog tractor?

    Thanks in advance!

  • look newer. for the 1500 bucks down here you can usually find the 800 or 801 series . maybe a two stage clutch. i bought an 861 diesel for one grand.. running. also an 661 for 2000 bucks with a bushhog. both with the 6 middle number in the model are two stage clutch. if you use both single and then two stage , you will only want the latter.

  • Thanks for the replies! I was not aware of the housing issues, so that's good to know.
There is another Jubilee near my moms that has been sitting for a long time. Tried to buy 6 or 7 years ago but the owner said he was still planning on fixing it "someday".
Had a gas leak and a small fire that melted all the wiring.
Might stop buy and see if he changed his mind yet.

  • Find a 640 series tractor. You will get away form the weak housing and the 8N axle nut and worn hub problems.

  • If the housing is damaged a replacement is high priced and scarce. The part was used for 1953 only,it proved to be weak for the over head engine.I would take the top cover off before buying it.I chose a 640 when buying a Ford tractor because of the weak housing problem.

  • In lower Michigan I paid $1600 for a Jub. sheet metal was fare, tires poor but up, it ran poor but we drive around the yard, hyd workes. With a tune-up, fluids changed and carburetor cleaned it starts and runs good.
