  • Correct Paint?
  • Is the Massey Ferguson gray paint the correct paint for my 1939 9N? I notice TSC no longer stocks the "dark ford gray" and didn't know if this was the same. They have both rustolium and magic brands.

  • Been a few years but Maude got her paint from N-Complete. 11 rattle cans of Valspar Ford Dark Gray. None of my neighbors have complained so it must be the right color ;-)

  • Red foot rests? Shiny alloy alternator? Black throttle rod, worm drive clamp on the induction, OMG! What are the garage/machine shed queen guys thinking about your machine? Yikes!!!

  • No, not really, a shade or three different. The original Ford Dark Grey paint number is M2888, and is sold today by TISCO under that number, but not by anyone else. TISCO is a bargain brand, alkyd enamel, and some will say it is not exact either, but there are some who have found better matches to the original. Try an archive search for Steve Dabrowski and see how his early 9N turned out. TSC use to sell VALSPAR but even their Ford Dark Grey was off. They now sell a brand called MAJIC and it sure is - I wish it would disappear. I used one of their Ford Red paints back when they switched and it was pure junk. I don't shop at tsc...SEE LINK -
