  • Resistor
  • 48 8n, if it's been converted to 12 volt do you still need a resistor going to the coil? It's a 12 volt coil. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Thanks for all the input. Might need a new coil, pulled off the dist. and the little ball on top of the inside of the dist. had half of it missing. Never seen this before. Points, plugs all set right. Not getting any fire. Lots of gas though( did the test)

  • Re: Resistor
  • Does your coil carry the markings "No External Resistor required" If so it would be a true 12 volt coil. If not, it may not be.

  • It's a front coil. They all require the oem ballast resistor.

  • Go to our HOW-TO's forum, subcategory ELECTRICAL, and download a copy of WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR for future handy reference -see LINK below. These are the CORRECT ways to wire these old N's whether 6-volt or 12-volt. Scroll down til you find yours. If you still have the generator and VR, I'd be interested in buying them -my email is open.
