  • I can't remember where I bought mine. I have four and I bought they at different times so it is likely that they came from different sources. They look identical. The only problem is that the chrome plating on the hub is very thin and fail rapidly in a humid environment. I had one for 9N445 rechromed.

  • I have an original steering wheel but had to buy a new chrome cap from Carpenter. The cap was a POS when it arrived. It was all scratched up, looked as though it had been dragged thru a parking lot. They replaced it and found they had more on their shelf in same condition. Supplier was of course in Cheena and just another lack of QC issue from them. Four spoke steering wheels were used on some '39 Ford Trucks and school buses as well. The only difference is those used a horn so the center cap was also different as there is a shelf there.

  • HiYa Chris-
I may be wrong, but I'd say there is only one supplier of these, since not a very big market exists for them so no need for competition. Dennis Carpenter, Just8ns, and STEINER TRACTOR all list at roughly at same price -DC = $99.95; STEINER = $95.00; and Just8Ns at $99.95 -and all come with the chrome center cap. I use to see ones on fleabay listed around $50 from a seller in Canada but have not seen any in a while, but then not really looking either. Who's are you looking at? Any others different from I listed?

  • I see about a half dozen 4-spoke wheels by as many sellers all for around $55-$58. Here's my theory. They are most likely made by a different supplier than the Carpenter, Steiners, and Just8ns ones, those I'd bet are all from one supplier and are of decent quality. I know some guys here have them on their tractors and may or may not chirp in. The cheap ones, I'm thinking, are probably cheaply made, solid plastic maybe, with no steel frame at all like the others. That would explain the nearly 50% reduction in pricing. Maybe someone who has purchased on will also chime in. I'm just saying what I think, but in the end Chris, it is your tractor so you will have to make the decision yourself what you want to go with. We all want and appreciate a good bargain, but, I can only speculate on why the two products are priced so far apart. Cheaper material means cheaper manufacturing and that is what I believe is going on.

  • I don't know about the steering wheel, but I buy most my parts from Reliable and have only had one part bad. They replaced it without asking for a return of the bad one.
They are friendly to talk to and back up their products.
