  • Tilled my garden today
  • Only the second warm day since early Feb. Too longer to gas up the tractor and attach the tiller than it to to till the garden. '49 8N,

  • Nice outfit, looks like a real twin to mine. I got 30 yds of heavy fill today to fill a pot hole. Used my 960 with one armed bandit and Dearborn back blade to spread it. The 8N with the Dearbon field cultivator to fluff it up to make the stones easy to pick.

  • Nice photo. I have the same set-up. Old Dearborn chisel plow. Do you know where to find parts for the plow, every once and awhile drop a spring, which usually can be found, but I'd like to keep several of the "link" pieces between the plow and spring in the tool box as they are much harder to replace.

  • No I don't. As you can see I am missing two springs. If you find a source I would like to know about it.

  • Will do. I've tied mine to the frame with wire so that I don't lose them if they drop off. The spindles that the springs hang off of are a bit worn on my plow.

  • Garden? That looks more like a deer food plot. you got me beat, my tiller only has one of those replacement 6.5 Predator motors on it.

here in central IL We had a couple of ideal days before it rained and froze up again.

i put a bunch of stuff out like taders, onions and cold tolerant vegetables.

Way this weather is going this spring, i just may wind up retilling sand planting. When, I have no idea.

I have faith on the onions and maybe the taters.

  • Cool Beans! I love seeing these old N's at work and with their original mating implements. Here in Michigan we are having a late spring. Fields are still too muddy or will be shortly to get into. Weather doesn't help either. Yesterday it was 73°F by mid afternoon but winds were at 40 MPH. Mid 30's now, with rain, sleet, freezing rain coming later today and this weekend and by Monday more snow accumulation.

  • I've not had much luck over the years with garden either. Deer and coon eat my corn and something rips the other plants out of the ground last time I planted. It is still to wet in Northeastern Indiana and they say heavy rain over the weekend. Nice tractor.

  • My brother’s garden (Vietnam vet) looks like a permiter wire setup . High wire for deer low wire for coons and ground hogs even has a path you have to go though.lol. One ground hog dug under and came up under his biggest pumpkin. Lol. War was on.

  • "something rips the other plants out of the ground last time I planted."

That was a problem for me last year. Raccoons. I trapped a couple and my neighbor shot a bunch.

  • Buying tractors did not make my thumb any greener. All I ever managed to do with a garden was make a buffet for the local wildlife. I started buying more of what was already growing wild. Now we usually manage to get some blackberries, raspberries, and grapes.
