  • Howdy, does anyone remember me/?
  • Hi everybody, It's been a long time since I've been on here. Working my company's version of part time (60 to 70 hours per week) doesn't leave much time for anything but eat, sleep, shower say Hi to the wife on my way in or out so she doesn't think I'm an intruder and open fire. But for now looks like I'm going to get about 3 months of r&r, somehow I broke a tendon in my right arm, shredded my right bicep, broke an artery and retore my right rotator cuff.Yep you read right I don't know how I did it, unfortunately I have a high tolerance for pain and it gets me in trouble, all I know is I had a small pain in my right bicep at work one night and the next thing I know my whole arm from shoulder to wrist was black, I went for an mri and ended up in priority surgery.Boss ask if I could do my job with one arm,I'm not so sure he was joking, we are so short handed it's unbelievable. Right after the first of the year we got a 15 to 30% pay increase in hopes of attracting new drivers so we could all work less hours but that hasn't happened.Hope all are doing well.I'll be checking in over the next few weeks,as soon as I get the shoulder to wrist cast off I want to catch up on some repairs on our naa. God Bless, Beth and Allen.

  • there are certin meds that cause tendons to break. you may want to check and see if you have been taking one of those and see if the docs can switch to something else. g o.o d luck. how did your trailer work out?

  • Sorry to hear about the injury. Sometimes the only way to get a break is to break something.

  • Hey Allen, Yes I do remember you. Sorry to hear of your injury. Last post I recall you were buying a ford or mercury car maybe from out of state. So hang in there and be a good boy and don't overdo it.

  • Allen: 'I don't know how I did it' is actually not all that uncommon. All I was doing when one head of my left bicep (translates to two head) tore free of the rotator cuff was opening the mailbox. I was luckier - I tore a vein rather than an artery so my arm turned red and purple. The damage to the rotater cuff was minor and after several years, getting it repaired is still on my to-do list. Same thing happened in my right arm a couple years back but there was far more damage to the rotator cuff and it needed to be fixed. I got some good advice and I am going to pass it along in about the same way it was given to me. LISTEN TO AND DO WHAT THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST TELLS YOU TO DO. The guy also said he had always been less than diligent with what PT's had advised before, but the PT told him 'If you want to comb your own hair, you will have to do this. If you're OK with having someone else do it for you every time it needs done, you can just do the exercises when you feel like it.' The full function and range of motion is back though I am still weak working with my arms over my head. One head of right bicep came detached after the surgery but that is minor... Brett Favre played quarterback the later years of his career with only one head of his throwing arm bicep. On the bright side, the 'Popeye' muscles that come with the detached head will really impress kids.
Best wishes for a good recovery.

  • Thanks to all for good wishes.I didn't know that all that happened to me was that common, I'll have a lot of questions for the Dr.My wife kinda feels the same way this is a good reason for me to get some badly needed rest.Yep I got the car, it's a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, only had 30,000 original miles on it, a very sweet ride, I've had a couple of people try to buy it off me, of course my answer was "No way. My wife even likes it, the first one I had she called an old mans car, but says this one is classy. When I finally get back out in the garage I'll have some questions on the Wagner loader on the NAA, it is in need of a lot of work.God Bless, Beth and Allen

  • Last few years I worked I had to use subterfuge so I could work a lot of overtime without the company being aware of it. If they knew I would have been fired. Of course I didn't get paid but wanted to take care of our customers. Hope you get well soon. By the way, can you work with one arm? LOL.
