  • I have a 73 Ford 3000 diesel with a leaking fuel return line from the front injector. Can anyone direct me to a parts book or part number for this line?
    Thanks

  • Where is it leaking?
    They are pretty simple really.
One bolt that screws into the top of the injector with a copper washer above and below the banjo fitting.
Put a wrench on the bolt and see if you can tighten it a bit. If not you can buy copper washers at most hardware stores.
There's nothing under there that is going to jump out at you if you take the banjo fitting off.
If it is the rubber/plastic line just buy a piece of fuel line and a couple of pinch clamps and replace it.

  • Thanks......

Ultradog, that is what I heard today. The one that was leaking looked like a steel line, but I was told today it was plastic. Thanks for confirming it. I think I can fix it now.

  • I couldn't find this photo when I posted yesterday.
    It's just ordinary fuel line - 3/16"?
The pinch clamps can be found in those boxes of misc hardware at any good hardware store.
The pressure on those lines is just a few psi so they work well.

  • Dog-
I'd think the fuel lines would be 1/4". The early 9N's used the 3/16" line -oil anyway. Should the rubber lines be oil and gas resistant? I'm just spitballin' here. You are the Thousand Series go-to guy.

  • The I&T F-31 Manual may be a help to you. It may or may not have the part number, I don't know as I do not have a copy handy. Usually they have the major components in exploded views with a parts list as well containing the part numbers. Here is a LINK to CLYMER MANUALS, the newest owner of the old INTERTEC PUBLISHING company who owned the I&T name for years. They are the publisher now and retain the logo and name as well.
