  • Need a bit of help
  • This job is going to be a bear; rusted bolts everywhere (hey, that rhymes). Fluid is drain; trans bolt was a bit hard to get out. I went to take the right side running board off and one of the bolts appear striped; the bolt came out; it was loose to begin with and the threads look buggered; fix, drill out and tap larger or just some locktite? That worry later. Went to take the bolts out of the front of the running board and they bolt is just going to spend. Thought, why not take the radius arm off to take the front bracket off? Well, I took two bolts out but now what? Is the socket cap suppose to now come off? Or am I just making a bigger problem? Might have to walk away a bit.

  • Problem Solved
  • The running board is off. I will leave the radius arm alone. I finally got enough of the bolt loose so that I could just barely grab it with a pair of locking pliers. I will need to get some new bolts; these are flat head; can I get these at a hardware shop? If not, are they available from Just8Ns?

  • I am trying to remove the right side running board. The two bolts in the front are rust welding so they are not coming off but just going to spin. So, I want to take the front bracket that is behind the radus arm off so that later I can grind the bolts out and replace them. However, I found no instructions for removing the radius arm. I got the front pin out and the two nuts holding the ball socket cap but now what, smack it a lot with a rubber hammer?
