  • Putting a zenith carb on a 641. I've got zenith carbs on 2 of my other n series tractors and they both have 2 places two adjust the carb settings, but this one only has the idle side adjustment the power side has a plug in it. Is this the way these carbs are supposed to be?

  • Tractor carbs usually had the main mixture adjustment so they could be adjusted for maximum efficiency under varying loads and conditions. Without the external adjustment the carb has to come apart to change the jet. I suspect most of these tractors are running just fine with whatever adjustment the main mixture got when the carb was last rebuilt. Being able to adjust for maximum efficiency is less important for tractors that just do occasional odd jobs. With the right jet, that carb will work just fine but you may have to crack it open again to put the "right" jet in it.
