  • Installing new rod connecting bearings in my 8N. Is there a way to prime the oil system before start up? I thought perhaps I could pump oil through the system with a pressure tank of oil through the block oil tee fitting that leads to gauge.

  • You can use a small pump up weed sprayer for the pressure tank. Oil does not seem to bother the hose etc.. I have been using one for about 20 years as a homemade one shot lube system on a Bridgeport stepper.

I give it a few pumps, and when I see oil moving through the system, I release pressure in the tank. Much easier than an oil gun.

  • Thanks mthomas for the sprayer idea for the pressure tank. I'll give it a try.
