  • Valve guide seals
  • Requesting a little history and some input...the picture I cant post...lol.. shows an old valve guide and seal...so..were seals used in the 40s...Neoprene wasnt around then was it? Should I use the new seals on all guides?...or just intake?...any techniques to get the seals over the end of the guide?? Many Thanks!

  • Rubber seals have been used in automotives for a very long time. The first synthetic rubber was invented in 1903. Neoprene came several decades later in 1930 and was quickly followed by NBR (Buna) in 1934. NBR had better resistance to oil and gasoline and has been preferred over neoprene for automotive and hydraulic seals pretty much since the day it was invented.
