  • It is great sadness that one of our fine members has passed away. Dan "Farmer Dan" Howe passed away early this morning in hospice. He had been suffering with multiple illnesses fir several years and slipped and hurt his back a few months ago so had been hospitalized and in rehab since. Dan was a great friend and fine gentleman. He and longtime girlfriend just got married a week ago. Arrangements pending. Rest In Peace Daniel, you were one of the best.

  • Very Sad News indeed.
You will be missed Farmer Dan.
I always admired your grit and persistence even after being dealt a few raw deals.
You were a true "just get it done" kind of guy, and I admired that for sure.
From the days of the Horse rescue, "Patch of Heaven", to Maude and the Motoguzzi, you always had something fun going on. Enjoy your new life in the great beyond and say hello to our other tractor friends.
Seems like just yesterday you were going to the tractor pulls.

  • How come all the really good ones have to go first?? Like many others on here I never met the man personally but considered him a friend.. We had a lot of the same interest, old Ford tractors, motorcycles, and guns.. Rest in peace my friend, you will be greatly missed.

  • That surely is sad news. I was not clear about what Dan was experiencing, but had read his posts and was worried about him. We only exchanged a few emails, but I enjoyed his posts and his adventures with Maude. I'll miss him.

  • Very sad to hear of Dan's passing. I never had the privilege of meeting him face to face but I considered a friend. Spent many nights chatting with him on the evening chat rooms we used to have on here. Prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in peace in our Lords arms.

  • Tim, thanks for the e-mail and the posting here.
I first met Dan on this site. Later, my wife and I were spending week-ends in a seasonal campground about 8 miles south of Dan. I got to see him pull with Maudie at the Marshall Fairgrounds.
Then a number of years ago, I met him in person at his home. He bought a set of wheel weights from me to put on Maudie.
I rode with him to Anderson, Indiana to N-Complete when they were rebuilding "Maudie's" engine for him.
You and I visited Dan about a year and a half ago to get Maudie running as she had been sitting for awhile. It was a bit cold and then we enjoyed a sip of Dan's favorite beveage.
In February, 2019, I bought Maudie and Dan's 20' trailer. The trailer was the one that Dan and his father had hauled their motorcycles to Sturgis. Remember the Moto Guzzi that had been his dad's?
Dan used the money from selling Maudie to modify his bathroom and to build his hobby room.
Dan asked me if I was interested in his front mount distributors and parts. I was and I went to Marshall. Dan and I again shared his favorite beveage, Crown Royal.
Dan had mentioned here that his mother was making face masks for hospital staff when this pandemic started. I offered to donate to her project if we could get 2. Dan said no to the donation but sent us some masks. We have used them regularly.
A good man to the end. Rest in peace, Dan.

He will be missed. He gave me some insight on dealing with the VA and a few other things along the way. I, for one, will miss him. Rest in peace ol' soldier.
    God Bless.

  • I never met Dan but he helped me out a couple of times via Email,he was a great guy. Even at 71 years of age I still have a hard time getting my head around when we loose good people like Dan. May God Bless his soul and be with his wife and all his friends because when we lose some one like him it leaves a big empty hole in our lives.God Bless, Beth and Allen.
