  • Does anyone know the approximate serial number range for the warhorses? I think they started in the 99XXX and went up to about 120XXX. Am I correctish? My friend got 9N100485 yesterday. Pretty sure its a warhorse.
    TIA !

  • 99XXX had steel wheels from the factory but they used up the electric start parts they had until they got all used up before they had magneto and crank start at about 100XXX to about 120XXX. That is why you see so many steel wheels around. I know 121XXX had electric start but could not verify if it had steel or rubber from the factory.

  • Think about this. The WWII brought about a shortage of most everything a consumer would need, Rubber especially rubber for tires was one of if not the most hard to get. Copper for wires, starters and generators also went to the war effort. Engines without electric features were available by ordering electric delete. Rubber tires were not to be had for anything, cars truck's and tractors. Long story short, we have two issues Steel wheels and electric delete that could be separate from one another. That is another reason that the distinction of S/N's would be extremely difficult to pin down. Thru the years electric delete engines were common and available to order primarily for use on power units.
