  • Hydraulic pump rebuild kits
  • I'm planning on rebuilding my hydraulic pump on my 1949 8n and was comparing prices
on YT and J8n's ( using the kit without valve chambers).
There is a 100 buck difference between the two sites so has anyone had any issues with ether one or know where they come from??
    Thanks Mark

  • Once again folks fail to realize that YT is NOT a parts supplier. Yes, they offer to sell parts BUT they come from various suppliers. You order, they send you whatever is available from a handful of their suppliers. Good luck getting any TECH SUPPORT when problems arise, and they do often. All parts are made aftermarket nowadays but it matters who you buy from because few demand quality assurance. I buy from Dennis Carpenter, JUST8Ns, and STEINERS in that order. Denny Carpenter is the only licensed-by-FORD supplier who actually makes a lot of their parts because he owns and uses much of the original tooling he bought or leases out from Ford. Stamping dies and presses, drilling and milling machines, and others are used in his parts. JUST8Ns and STEINERS buy his stuff and also sell it. JUST8Ns was started by Don Barkley, who was Denny's QC man when he first started making tractor parts. All the other places simply clone his stuff in Cheena and often with poor results. So, it's your tractor, your money, your decision.

  • Tim,
Thank you for your reply it is exactly what I was looking for !
Also thanks for your hydraulic lift repair guide as well, very well written.
I only want the kit on hand when I do drop the pump to clean it, the center plug is stuck bad.
So I had to go in through the right inspection cover and suck out remaining gear lube (no water) then scoop out sludge by hand, but can't thoroughly clean it so its coming down soon.
Once on the bench I'll be able to free up the plug.
    Thanks again, Mark

  • My experience has taught me that one is usually (always?) better off using good used parts than aftermarket parts. BTDT.
