  • Tim Daley
  • I first encountered Tim about 10-12 years ago when I first started fooling with tractors. I called him about getting a tool kit for my 48 8N that I was restoring. I ended up getting two kits, one for the 48 and another for my 39 9N. We ended up talking lots of times on the phone and exchanging emails on the books we were reading about the Ford Motor Company and our mutual pursuit in finding an A generator for our 9N's. Tim finally found one in a barrel of generators at a friends shop and in the end he got hold of another that I bought from him.

A few years back he seemed to have developed some serious health problems and then he ended up having to sell his 48 8N and move his 39 9N to his friend Jason's in southern Ohio for possible restoration. Over the last couple of years we did not communicate as often and he dropped off the board here for awhile. Lately he was back on and occasionally he would have a photo of one of my tractors he used to make a point. I was always glad to see him post and often added a comment letting him know it. A week or two ago he noted to me in a post that he had tried to call me and could not leave a message. I replied that I would email him and catch up in the following week. For one reason or another I failed to do it and was planning on doing a long mail on Sunday. Sunday morning I happened to open the Board and read of Tim's passing. I never made the email.

Tim was my friend and I had a number of things I was going to send him from my various discoveries rebuilding my S/N 292 9N that differed from even a few hundred tractors later. A number of photos I was saving to send along with the other info. Now Tim is gone and I won't be able to tell him about these things. I really miss him a lot.

  • I got to meet Tim back around 2012 when Buckley, MI hosted the FFCA that year. I was able to go since I'm very close to Buckley. Tim was there with a few tables of goodies and literature. It's always nice to be able to put a face to a name in our shrinking old tractor world.
