  • Terry, here are two of the best photos from the Ford museum:

  • I have seen that at The Henry Ford several times. In 2003, our club in Monroe County, Mich, was featuring Ford tractors. One of our members was a regular volunteer at the Museum and said that it was possible to "borrow" the prototype to display at our show.
Another member and I went to the museum and, with the farm display curator, worked out the possible loan terms for a 3 day week-end.
2003 was the 100th anniversary of Ford Motor Company and my 50th year driving my 1951 8N. I was really excited!
They were willing to crate the tractor and load it onto my trailer. They would then be there on Sunday to unload it.
One requirement was to ensure the tractor for a stated sum (I'm leaving that unstated). Let's say priceless.
After a search for insurance it became evident that the cost to our small club would be prohibitive. Darn!
I learned several years later that the museum would no longer loan exhibits to private individuals, only to other museums. Double Darn

  • Good story. That would have been neat to have borrowed that piece of Ford tractor history.
