New parts made in China?
I redid all the ignition system About a year ago. Do most of these new parts like points, rotor, condenser, and cap and coil, made in China? My ‘41 9N is now not starting. I get intermittent spark, and sometimes it will fire, but not on all cylinders. This morning, it ran good and fired right up. As the day progressed, it started to miss a little. I shut it off, and now it won’t fire. I did check for spark, didn’t get any. I let it set for an hour or so, and got intermittent firing, but won’t run. My question is: I have a feeling most of these ignition parts are now manufactured in China and are junk. Any of you have come across this problem? These condensers are made so cheap, I suspect…

Re: New parts made in China?
Yes, most condensers and ignition parts are now cheaply made Chinese reproductions. You are better off going to Napa or finding Blue Streak, Fomoco, or Ford originals on EBay. Even good original used are better in most cases to the ones from China.

Re: New parts made in China?
My '49 8N had been running great the day I moved it to another field. A few days later I went up to use it and it wouldn't fire. I finally figured out the condenser had gone bad. That was China distributer parts. I ended up doing a 12 volt conversion with a Pertronix electronic ignition. Started and ran great. I have since sold it because I had no jobs for it. It was purchased used by my Father and was in the family for 50 years. The fellows on here used to say Blue Streak parts were American made. Not sure about now.
