  • Two questions. I have noticed recently that when under load or climbing a hill that engine will start to lose power. If I pull the choke out about 1/2” it rights itself. Points? Also I see that when I park it for a day or two there is a wet spot on the ground under where the carburetor is. What would cause that? Dave

  • The two may be related. It points to the carb. Possible float issue and may be sticking. Sounds like the engine is lean. By applying choke, you are basically richening the air/fuel mix by cutting back the air flow.It may be time for a carb rebuild.

  • Former poster on this site used to say, "90% of fuel issues are spark" or something to that effect. A weak spark under load needs more fuel. However, a governor linkage or worn governor can also cause power loss under load. Personally, I would not spend money on parts until I'm sure.

  • I will order a kit and do the carburetor. That will cover that! Then we will see. Thanks, Dave
