Sherman reverser transmission
Looking to convert my 8n into a forklift. Anyone know where I can find a reverser transmission? My 8n has the Sherman step up, would consider a swap.

Re: Sherman reverser transmission
As Ed said make sure you get the correct one cause most will be fine spline input shaft. You need one out of a 600/800. It might be possible to swap out the input shaft and nose cone from the fine spline to a course spline by using one off a combo but I haven’t done one off a reverser so you would have to check part numbers to see if it would work. You will have to relocate the hole cause it’s not in the same position as the step up. Reverser is worth three times as much as a step up so best to sell it once you find reverser.

Re: Sherman reverser transmission
I figured it would be a shot in the dark finding one and if I did it would cost an arm and a leg to buy it. But sometimes you just get lucky. I do have a IH 300 backhoe that I could flip the differential but I'm using it for the backhoe right know. Thanks for the reply though.

Re: Sherman reverser transmission
That seems to be a pretty rare item, like a few other Sherman products. If you find one, make sure it is correct for your 8N:

Re: Sherman reverser transmission
Thanks for the reply, Ed. Perhaps a shuttle would work to, but I imagine they are just as rare and costly.
