I have a tow bar with a ball hitch to connect to the lift arms of my 9N to tow a small trailor for hauling tree parts..Something seems to be missing. I would appreciate it if someone could post or direct me to a picture of what all this is supposed to look like.

Are you talking about using the cross drawbar? If so, you need drawbar stays to keep the drawbar from lifting on you, and the factory setup included a drawbar extension, aka V-bar, to attach the ball to. You can get by with just the stays, but some then use a drawbar lock to keep the drawbar from spinning. Here is the full kit:
