I have an early 49 8N with 4 bolt sectors. Discovered the right sector shaft has damaged gear teeth. Cannot seem to find new sector shafts for the early 8N's with 4 bolt sectors. Any help / advice would be appreciated

Bert, I suspect that you will have to find a parts tractor/donor if you want to keep the original steering box. Most folks use your situation as a reason to upgrade to the much improved 2-bolt steering box.

Thank you Ed. I did not even know if I could do that. Was not sure a two bolt steering box would fit. Does a new or used steering box usually come with complete with new sectors and am I going to have to get new pitman arms as well?

If you buy new, pitman arms will be included. You may have to trim a small piece from your dash panel for a good fit, but that is all. You will have to swap your drag links to the opposite sides. New ones are pricey, so be sitting down when you shop for one.

Just purchased a new 2 bolt sector gearbox from Complete Tractor in Tennessee. $ 688.81 plus tax. Waiting for delivery. Hope I can get the old drag links off without damaging the tie rod ends so I can swap them side to side as seems to be required for the later steering box. Thanks again Ed for pointing me in the right direction.
