  • Buying a carburetor
  • I was wondering where you folks buy your carburetor?

  • If I had to replace mine, I would first look for a used Marvel-Schebler carb in rebuildable condition. If you cannot find one on a parts tractor near you, you may have to search eBay. Rebuild kits are available and there are instructions in our How-To's/Fuel System library on how to rebuild them.

If you want a new one, it will most likely come from the "land of almost right", and it will be a crapshoot as to whether it will run right out of the box. Some run fine right out of the box, some don't. Some folks have had to very slightly open up the main jet to get full throttle performance. If I were going to buy a new one, I would look at Just 8N's, Dennis Carpenter, and then Steiner's last.

  • Jeff,
I was able to find a rebuilt Marvel-Schebler carb on Yesterdays Tractors, it was much more expensive then any carb that you can find but my tractor has never started better, never again had an issue with it flooding when trying to start the tractor, well worth the extra cost.
Plus, I got $100 back on the total cost by returning a core (one of my 'crappy in comparison' carburetors
