  • Ford 8N Toolbox Mounting
  • A dumb question, but when mounting the toolbox on a 8N, is the bolt hole in the dash, threaded? My 8N did not have a toolbox, someone use that location to mount an external coil. The bolt comes through the hole from the back, and was double nutted to keep it in place. I bought a toolbox and would like to have the bolt coming from within the toolbox to avoid having the bolt protruding into the box. The back side is very difficult to get a hand in, so holding the nut will be a problem. Looking at the hole (I'm afraid to take the bolt out, as it will fall) and I can't tell if the hole is threaded. Also, the box has one hole, and the parts catalog says it takes two 5/16 bolts (no nuts mentioned).

Again, I know it's a dumb question, but it's just a tight, almost impossible spot, to get access in that area behind the dash.

  • Yes, it is threaded. Use the same bolt for the bottom and back of the toolbox.

  • Unfortunately, a previous owner removed the threaded inserts, plate nuts, or whatever was providing the threads. So, it was a bear to install the box with bolts and nuts. But, I got it done.
