Paige, what model 801 do you have? 801 is the series designation of the tractor, not the model. Do you have the 4 or 5-speed tranny? Do you have live PTO (2-stage clutch)?

If you are even moderately mechanically inclined, splitting the tractor and replacing the clutch are not that big of a deal, assuming you have a place to work and a decent (even home-owner's) set of hand tools. This is one of those jobs that seems very daunting when you've never done it, but if you suck it up and get it done, you'll be amazed about how it's NOT that big a deal and you'll sure be proud of yourself. Before you get into splitting the tractor, are you sure that your clutch problem could not be resolved by adjusting the pedal play?
