Hey Mike-
I know what you mean about those stubborn 5/8-18 Carriage bolts- tough little snots they are. A few years ago when I restored my 48 I got all but two bolts out and it didn't matter how much PB Blaster I used they didn't want to budge. Of course I had buggered up the threads on the end with a 5# brass hammer but then my last option was to leave them in and use them, which I did but it was pain trying to run a thread die over the ends. Back when these tractors were used for farming I think the rims got switched around a lot i.e. cultivating; planting; etc so they stayed nice and loose.
