My 49 8N had a drilled boss with a plug in it.
It was a common practice back then to set carbs with a Vacuum Guage.
It is a much better adjustment of the carb, I Think :)>!!!!!!!
My 53 has a drilled boss on it and I will set my carb with a vacuum Guage :)>!!!
When I set them with a vacuum guage I do not have a Load Problem, the carb works great under all conditions :)>!!!!
