Hey Dan....not many Dearborn implements used the long pin, but Ferguson used it for several non-draft implements. They used it to take tongue weight off the toplink rocker. Those implements that were designed for it had a special link w/ a wide-set yoke.

I'm going to post a pic here of a replica(I fabricated last year)of the Ferguson pick-up hitch. It uses the tractor's lift links to raise & lower a hitch hook mounted under the diffy. The upper yoke link telescopes & locks(in the up position)w/ a hitchpin. As you can see it is attached at the long pin, so there is no tongue load on the tractor's toplink rocker. I won't go into the other purposes of the hitch since it's off your topic, but let me know if you want more info.

If we have to, I'll burn a CD w/ pics & such, & mail it to you. If this attached pic opens for you, I'll post the pin pics again, too.
