At $22.50 per gallon it is no wonder New Holland wants folks to use their 134. The 134 is a NH suggested modern all purpose, not always the best. The SMO SAE 90 was a Ford war years alternative from about 1940 to the mid 50's but not the only choice then either, not a must for N's. No need to get pricy oil, get a good gear oil that is yellow metal safe (another somewhat misplaced requirement but since it is available why not for peace of mind at best if you need it) or as also was an alternate during war years, 50W motor oil
