Here's another video about the Henry Ford Trade School that was set up to help train young boys the tools of the trade in manufacturing. Schooling consisted of one week classroom, three weeks in the shop for hands-on experience. The school began in 1916 and ran until it closed in 1952. Young boys learned a little about everything -casting/foundry; engineering; machining using all the various machines of the time, and the basic reading, writing, and math skills needed to perform in a manufacturing environment.
